Dog only eating human food

Once I let my dogs taste human foods (Roasted chicken with rice), they got hook, and refused to eat their own. I have tried to switch to different types of dog food, but have not succeeded in finding one that they like. I wonder if they'd get enough nutrition from eating human food?, and how can I teach them to eat dog food again. (I tried to feed them dog food only, but they'd starved themselves rather than touching the bowl. At the end of two days, I gave in, and feed them human food again

Have you tried to mix the dgo food with the human food? Just keep taking out less and less human food each day until there is only dog food.

Most human meals are not going to supply your dog with enough nutrients to sustain them, and could result in big problems down the road. There ARE homecooked meals designed specifically for dogs that you could try, but even these should be discussed with your vet and you will most likely have to supplement with some sort of vitamins.

You can take the above advice and wean them off of it, or do my approach which is...simply cut them off. The dog will not starve himself. They may not eat for a few days, but eventually they will eat. This was a bad habit to start, and you really need to address it ASAP. It is for his own good. It's not that your dogs don't like the dog food - it is simply that they like human food better. Be strong. Good luck.

I agree...if you are not going to supplement the human food with enzymes you need to feed them dog food. They will eat when they are hungry. Especially if they are getting the proper amount of exercise.
