Small Dog Food Recommendations

I have a Morkie-Poo (maltese, yorkie, poodle) who is 7 pounds. I am currently giving him Wellness CORE but looking for other suggestions because I think this it is not agreeing with his stomach. I need some good recommendations for food!!!!

How old is he? Why do you think it doesn't agree with his stomach?

Re: Small Dog Food Recommendations

I'm sorry... he turned a year old in November. We got him at Christmas time for our 15 year old son. He was on Dad's dog food when we got him and I wanted to give him a better food so we slowly switched him to Wellness CORE but his stole is formed but loose and watery at the end. His stomach makes a lot of noises and he has a lot of gas. This past weekend, we went out of town and left him with my inlaws and he ended up with diarrhea. So, all of this together is making me think he just has a sensitive stomach and maybe it's time to try a different food.... after we go through the chicken and rice ritual to get him back to normal.....

I had all 3 of mine on Wellness.....2 of them started to have horrible gas and one was fine.......so I switched the 2 that had the gas to Taste of the Wild and they are doing wonderful on it ...normal gas () firm poo, very shinny coats

Re: Small Dog Food Recommendations

Wellness has a small-breed formula that looks great! I would also add an enzyme/probiotic to the food. I have a cavalier that had similar symptoms. I changed my 3 dogs to Eagle Pack Holistic Select dry, mixed with EPHS can, a little water and I use Solid Gold Seameal. Stella also gets a probiotic called Ark Naturals Gentle Digest in her food. The other 2 just the Seameal. She has no symptoms any more. No gas and no gurglies! Her stool is good. She probably goes twice a day. I think whatever food you choose, it's the enzyme/probiotic thing that makes it work! Good Luck!

Re: Small Dog Food Recommendations

Well.... not sure if he really has a sensitive stomach but found out the reason for the diarrhea... he has worms!!! I think we may have gotten him that way since he's always had some sort of loose stool! He also had 2 very severe ear infections when we got him.... I emailed the breeder about the ear infections when we got him and she never returned my email.... so I'm just glad that we have him now and he is getting good care!!!
