Pumpkin

The lady at the specialty dog store and one of her customers told me that instead of weaining my new puppy off of Purina onto his new food over a period of time, I can give him a spoonful of pumpkin and start his new food right away. Has anyone heard this? Is this true?

Pumpkin is great for hardening soft stools, and also relieving constipation. I always use it when introducing a new food, but I still switch over slowly (over about a week w/pumpkin). I also give pumpkin any time my dogs have a loose stool, its really a miracle food.

Please note this is referring to real canned (or fresh) pumpkin, NOT pumpkin pie filling!
