So we tried the entire raw thing with Summer and I was greeted with a 'you want me to do what with that?' look. If I peeled the meat off the bone, she'd eat it. But the purpose of giving her raw bones in supplement to her evo is to try to cut down on the teeth build up. If she's not going to chew on it, I need to find another solution for the tooth thing, even if I keep the raw supplements in her diet (which I plan on doing, they may just have to be ground...).

Any ideas? She is making things difficult, lol!

Exactly what are you trying to feed? She is a toy dog, right?

She is about 6.5 lbs, so yeah, very small. I tried a chicken wing so far and a turkey neck. Those are the smallest things I could find. The feed store mainly had huge ribs and things made for large dogs. I'd like to find something she can chew and get her mouth around easily. She seems to think pulling meat off a bone is too much work for her.

For a dog that size chicken wings should be about perfect. Chicken necks would be easier than turkey necks. I think the problem we have here is that she is satisfied hungerwise and doesn't feel the need to work for her food. Dogs really need to work for their food. I suggest you feed the wing before you feed a meal or feed it in place of a meal. If she is hungry she should be more willing to put forth a little energy to eat.

You are not gaining anything by grinding.

When I switched my dogs over a while back. My older dog a Lab Mix did not even think about it. He just dug in and ate everything I put in front of him.

My ACD pup. licked it and played with it a bit. I used chicken necks the first time. But all it took was for him to bite down one time and he began eating everything I gave him.

The chicken's rib cage might work as well, tiny flat bones. It would be easy to adjust how much meat you leave on the ribs too, then cut the meat down to the bones so she is doing some of the work. Buy the bone in breasts, cut off most of the meat for the humans and give her a bit of that bone.
