Raw feeding??

I have read recently on the internet about feeding raw bones and meat to dogs. Especially chicken bones. AHHHH!!! I have always been taught that chicken bones are lethal to dogs. Like I said I am and oldie. So is this safe or not? Just what is everyones opinion.
Of course people that write the articles will say " Of course it is safe!"
But prepared dog food people will tell you that you will be killing your dogs. I kind of see logic in the carnivore reasoning. That dogs were not ment to eat grain. I guess I am just afraid to hand my babies chicken wings. Any thoughts??

Yes, raw bones (and yes, chicken as well) are safe for dogs, provided they are RAW. Cooked they can do a lot of damage. I feed my dogs chicken necks, wings, legs, backs......and never had a problem. I'd watch them the first few times to make sure they are actually chewing the bones though, if they inhale their food and don't chew, go for something with bigger bones that they can't swallow unless they chew them.

I do... I do...And have been seeing major improvements with his teeth, and activity level, attention span.... I can not say enough good stuff about raw feeding. BUT it must be done properly. Harley is eating 1/2 kibble DVP, and 1/2 raw.
I have an aggressive chewer when it comes to bones, so no more raw bones for him. He loves chicken backs, and duck necks....List can go on forever

I feed straight raw, no kibble what so ever, I have absolutely no intention on ever turning back! As rottielover said the differences are amazing!!!
As far as bones, just be careful that your dog isnt a "gulper" or aggressive chewer, i firmly believe that the first little while supervision is a must!

Cooked bones can be very dangerous to your dog. Raw bones are not only safe, but healthy!

Absolutely.! There are wonderful websites ( for Rottie Breeders anyway) that give very detailed instruction and guidance for raw for puppies! I'll find the link for you if you are interested.

I don't know what Wimble Woof sent but here are a few good sites to read about feeding raw. If these have already been sent please forgive me.

BARF for Beginners
http://www.njboxers.com/faqs.htm

Raw Feeding Calculator
http://www.shirleys-wellness-cafe.co...htm#calculator

Raw Meaty Bones
http://www.rawmeatybones.com/

Make sure when feeding raw that the calcium/phosphorus ratio is balanced. If this is unbalanced it can lead to growth problems.

I have more information on raw feeding.
If you live with in the United States I can give you some website where I get me raw from.

The raw patties I give my dog (nature's variety) have ground up bone in them so that alleviates me worrying about whether or not he will choke. I did read that it is better to give your dog an uncooked bone as opposed to a cooked bone as a cooked bone has a tendency to splinter.
