natures variety Medallions

can anyone tell me if there is a difference in texture and consistency between chicken and rabbit natures variety medallions.

i just finished a bag of chicken. it was bloody and very soft. I mash it for kintaro so i can sprinkle fish oil and angel eyes in. i had a bag of rabbit nv in the freezer and defrosted it in the fridge. i notiched that the texture is really different from chicken. i understand that they're different meats but is it supposed to be non bloody, kind of rubbery, not pink inside? The chicken medallions before were very bloody and soft. the rabbit seems tougher.

i noticed that when kintaro ate the chicken he could lap it up but with the rabbit it was more solid. Im just worried that this bag was left outside and then they decided to put it in the freezer before i bought it at the store.

can anyone tell me what rabbit nv is supposed to look like?

Not sure about that one, the fastest way might be to go ahead and call the company. They will be able to give you a sure answer on the consistancy of the foods as well as an idea of the differences between the two.

I have noticed the same thing with the NV that I have been feeding. I think that it is a difference in the meat itself. Having experienced stew rabbit before (yuck!) it is a very "tough" meat and gamy. Also, they add pork fat to the rabbit formula which in my opinion is a lot firmer than chicken fat. But if you have any doubts I would call NV and ask them about the formula.

There is definitely a difference in the texture and I rotate them all with my dogs--the chicken is the "mooshiest"--the rabbit is more coarse---doesn't break up as easily with a fork
