New Rough Collie pup on the way and looking for food recommendations. Right now I am leaning towards Orijen Large Puppy. Comments?

I've been feeding the same thing for all of mine for years. It's an all life stages food, so I can't help about the puppy food. ;-) But especially if it's a rough, then you want to make sure your food has enough fat in it. Maybe not as a pup, but later on down the road.

They are feeding Purina Puppy chow (not a big fan of PPC).

I think you're on to something. Large breed formulas are mostly marketing. An all life stages product is solid, uncomplicated dogfood, and if extra fat or glucosamine/chondroitin are needed, there are good supplements and real foods that can be used. The amount of gl/ch in dog food is laughable anyway. Not nearly the amount that's considered effective. Marie

...further frustration. Breeder fed Purina Puppy chow. We've tried switching him first to Orijen Large Breed Puppy (he wouldn't eat it), tried switching him to Wellness Large Breed Puppy (he wouldn't eat it). All he wants to eat is Purina Puppy Chow. Guess he really loves that corn and all those fillers.

Not going to act like an expert or anything, but these are my two cents. First off, I hope you didn't buy three different bags of food trying to please them. Secondly, I would find some way to make the good food (wellness, etc) more appetizing to the pup. Rather than resorting to puppy chow. I WOULD THINK, once the pup realizes that they aren't getting puppy chow that they will eat what is in front of them. I know puppies are suppose to eat more and more often, but to a certain extent I wouldn't give them any other choice. Add some canned food to the dry stuff and put it there, if they don't eat it, then no treats or anything. They'll get hungry, and they'll eat it eventually.
