Re: Iams Has A Cruelty Case Against Them!

IAMS is a crappy food anyway, ingredient-wise (no offense to anyone feeding it) so kudos for looking for another food regardless (for cats there is Kirkland, Innova EVO, Nature's Variety, Wellness Core, California Natural, Spot's Stew and more)...

But PETA is a bunch of terrorists with a hidden agenda, and they tend to over exaggerate things quite a bit. I don't trust anything I watch/read on a PETA website anymore.

you can't believe it 100% if peta wrote it.... they employ some great fiction writers.

BTW that site is very old. This is old news.

Re: Iams Has A Cruelty Case Against Them!

Just moved our cats off Nutro and to Innova EVO. A couple of them were having some issues that the vet couldn't come up with a reason for other than a possible food problem. What a huge difference!

I think this has been a longstanding issue with Iams. I remember a former colleague fed her dogs Iams and if she held the kibble in her hands and looked at it, she could see fur sticking out of the kibble. I'm pretty sure chickens don't have fur...

Sounds about right. In their 'love' for animals they kill more than they save...like how they set loose that mink farm a few years back...

Re: Iams Has A Cruelty Case Against Them!

That website has been circulating for years. The facts are sorely distorted - Iams does conduct feeding trials with their own in house dogs, but stool and muscle mass are studied to determine the nutrient availability of the food. Any good manufacturer worth it's salt conducts feeding trials, although the larger companies can afford to keep their own dogs, the smaller ones outsource to kennels. Sorry, but I don't want my dogs to be the guinea pigs for the company - I want to know it's been tested and proven to give good results and keep dogs in good health.

When Menu foods had all that trouble last year ... how do you think the company pinpointed the problem and was able to issue the recall? They conducted their own feeding trial. I'd rather they do that then have more pet dogs keel over.

I couldn't really understand what was going on, beucause the videos didn't really explain much...plus, at some points, the video was pretty cruddy.

Re: Iams Has A Cruelty Case Against Them!

Also, I believe I heard that IAMS made a lot of reforms (as far as how things are run) awhile back. I think it was around when Peta first started all their campaigning.

Problem is, Peta doesn't update themselves (or very things, or keep the truth and just the truth, or etc.). So even if IAMS did originally have some issues, I think they were fixed long ago.
