Treating deer antlers

Hi folks. I'm new do this group and would like some advice. I own a small, new pet shop in Toronto and am interested in selling deer antlers as an alternative chew. Now the question I have is there any treating I have to do to the antlers before I sell them or before the dogs start chewing on them.

Thanks for any imput you might have.

Re: Treating deer antlers

I've never given my dogs treated deer antlers.. They haven't gotten many though, which is fine. My dad and boss were hunting last year and shot a buck on accident (the meat is more tender in the does to us) and since the horns are virtually worthless to humans (don't taste very good) I gave them to the dogs to chew on.
There shouldn't be any reason to treat them...

Re: Treating deer antlers

No treating is necessary. Just cut them up, wash them up and that's it..

I'm trying to be smart...but with a new shop and working nights things do get a bit confusing. When you say "washing" do you mean just a good hose or something more?

Thank you for your understanding

Just wash them up so they look nice and clean. Not with soap or other chemicals, maybe baking soda and water. Makes them more appealing.

Good luck with your store.
