wet vs. dry

What is the difference between dry kibble and the wet dog food version of the same brand?

What is the benefit of feeding dry vs wet or vice versa?

Thanks, I really want to know!

Re: wet vs. dry

One of the biggest benefits for dry over wet canned is that dry tends to clean teeth with its more abrasive nature. Other than that the only difference is water content.

Wet food can be pretty watery, so it doesn't have a lot of nutritional value. Also, it can stick to your dogs' teeth, which means you'll have to start cleaning their teeth so that plaque doesn't form.

You could mix both together, if your dogs don't like or can't eat dry food. We mix the wet food and the dry food for breakfast and then for dinner we give them dry food.

I mix it too, mostly dry & just a tablesoon or so of wet, my dogs will eat it dry but they kinda look at me like I forgot something & eat real slow. They really enjoy a lil wet in there. Whatever makes them happy.

Dry is almost always cheaper.

Wet food can also be higher in calories, fat, etc. IMO it's best not to feed a diet of strictly wet foods. Mixing works well for some dogs, though.

Personally, I only feed wet food as an occasional treat. It keeps Dakota from expecting something 'extra' with every meal and allows me to have something for special occasions.

Thanks all

In order for Ozzy to eat I mix chicken broth in... otherwise he refuses to eat. I think I'll stick with that instead of mixing in wet, seems cheaper.

I noticed it said in the artcle I posted on Bloat that you do reduce the chance of bloat if you mix wet (canned) into your dry food. Even reduces your chance more, by adding people food.
