Raw day picture diary

Yesterday's dinner, turkey wings...

And here is Sarge saying YES to dinner

Hunter isn't into poultry too much, but he did eat some.

He needed some coaxing

Sarge getting into it

His vice...he likes to sit with his meal and guard it. He takes forever and after a while I put it away for another time. Oh and he has a routine to his eating habits. He always eats the fat first.

Tried a whole chicken...

Butchering isn't my best skill, but I got the job done. Maybe I will get better with practice?

The dogs watched on....waiting....

Into the pan to make it more appetising...poultry isn't their favorite but I am trying to get them used to it.

Finally!

Oh as a side note, yes the oven is filthy! Its a spare oven and it will be cleaned soon!

Re: Raw day picture diary

I just pan seared it. Basically, I cooked a tiny bit of the outside fat and skin to give it a smell and taste to let my dogs know it is to eat. They are still hesitant with poultry so I am trying to intice their senses. The bones and most of the inner meat is raw, just the outside was cooked and even then a lot of it was still raw.

Pan searing doesn't cook it much. I tried to offer it completely raw and they refused it.

Thanks for the reply. Whew... I guess I worry too much. I was afraid the bones might be cooked and chicken bones are deadly when cooked.

Re: Raw day picture diary

So for two days straight, they got raw poultry. Today I gave them kibble (they get both but I was really busy today and I had to give them kibble) and they turned their noses at it. I thought maybe they weren't even hungry but then I took them outside and they were scouring the ground for any tidbits they missed from yesterday.

So I think I know in my dogs' opinions which they prefer.
