Wanting to Change from Nutro

I have to start off by saying that there seems to be some great info on this site and I look forward to reading more posts!

2 of my dogs currently eat Nutro Natural Choice Chicken & Oatmeal and they have started to scratch excessively and 1 of the dogs will occasionally throw up bile.

I'm currently trying to transition them to Innova Evo Reduced Fat after reading about that food on dogfoodanaylsis.

Does anyone have any experiences with Innova food?

Re: Wanting to Change from Nutro

I haven't used Innova but I do feed Innova EVO and find it to be an excellent choice.

Any particular reason you went for the reduced fat instead of regular EVO? Feeding less of the regular EVO will do the same as feeding more of the reduced fat and save you a little bit more money. At least that's what my local pet store owner told me when I inquired about the difference between the regular and reduced fat version of EVO.

Re: Wanting to Change from Nutro

I mainly picked the reduced fat version because 1 of the 2 dogs that will be switched to this food is a bit of a chubby couch potato. She is a pit mix and seems to have short burst of energy - I don't want her to put on anymore weight and idealy, I would like her to shed a few pounds.

I think I will do a bit more research within the Innova line and see what will be the best for them since they really seem to like the food.

I really want them off of the Nutro - there seems to be some allergy there.

Thanks for the reply.

Re: Wanting to Change from Nutro

That's fine, don't get me wrong the Innova EVO Reduced Fat is an excellent food. It just costs more and feeding less of the regular EVO will get you the same results. So you'll be saving money in two ways, your pit mix will be eating a little less (until she reaches an ideal weight) and the food costs a little less as well. I know EVO is super expensive AND we want what's best for our dogs, just thought I'd offer an alternative if you're interested. Btw, I just want to make sure you are aware that your dog will still gain weight on the Reduced Fat version if it is still overfed...but that's just like anything else. And congrats on switching from Nutro.

Good luck!
