Question looking for something in comparison to Candidae

in other words, a "no grain, no corn, no fillers- made for all ages (no puppy, senior, adult, etc)" kind of food.

something that is not too pricey and sold at most pet stores (IE petsmart) would be great too. also looking for something with fish as one of the main ingredients since both my dogs have skin issues and i know thats good for their skin.

i used to buy candidae and was going to start buying it again but i heard they changed their food sources and have started charging more for less lbs which is not good for my tight budget. i also used to buy natural balance so if anything i might go back to that but i would like to hear some of yall suggestions as well!

thanks!

No grains? Canidae had grains, but if your looking for something with ne grains that is made for dogs with allergies; Natural Balance has a grainless allergy formuls, and i think it is ALS.

In terms of bang for the buck, it's going to be tough to find something comparable to Canidae ALS.

Personally, I'm re-examining choices due to formula changes and out-sourcing by Canidae but, if I switch, I expect to be paying a lot more than I have been.

I agree with Ron, its going to be tough to find something with the same level of quality for the price of Canidae ( or how it was) especially when looking for a fish formula.
Good luck

What do you think of Blue Wilderness. It is sold at Petsmart. My 6 dogs are doing good on it so far. It does have fish but I add 1 sardine to there food anyway. I like the Omega 3to be up pretty high for my older dogs so they don't feel the aches and pains of old age.

Re: looking for something in comparison to Candidae

yea i figured i would have to pay more. i decided to go ahead and go get natural balance (not sure which formula yet) since i already had it in mind and that was one of the few other brands mentioned (i was really interested in the blue wilderness but it is way higher in price then i can afford right now). and b/c my dogs food is running low and i want enough to be able to slowly change their food. thanx to those who responded!

what you can do is try some samle bag too see if your dogs like it. Or maybe buy a small bag like 12 lbs. There is a pet store that lets me return the food if my dogs dosent like it. Maybe the pet store around your area lets you do that too.

Re: looking for something in comparison to Candidae

We just switched puppy to Wellness Core- if I remember correctly, it was rated a 6 star by that rating system everyone on here always tries, and I'm 99% sure it's grain free. For price... well I don't know. I'm in Canada and I think it was a couple dollars more than the solid gold for the 15lb bag. I don't know where in my city sells Candidae, so I don't know price compared to that.

Hurley is doing well on it so far. I don't really have anything to compare it to, since he was on nutro max beforehand... his poops have been much more consistant, on nutro they would be fine one day, then runny, then hard, then runny, then fine, etc etc. He reallllllly likes the kibble, which we're actually having trouble with, because we can't decide if he's still hungry, or if he just likes the food.
