Hi! I'm wondering if anyone here could maybe recommend a puppy food that my 4 month old puppy will eat?
So far I've just tried IAMS for puppys & Nutro ultra for puppys & he will NOT eat it! He will however eat my other dogs food, but it's for senior, over weight dogs, so I don't think it's probably the best thing for DJ.
I feed him only twice a day & he doesn't have access to any other food, except occasionally my other dogs food at feeding time. But he just will not eat his own food! I've tried it dry & also softened it a bit with warm water.

He doesn't seem too thin, & he's full of energy, LoL, but I do worry about him not eating at all!

I'd appreciate ANY suggestions! Thanks!

Wellness and Innova both make pretty good puppy food. Iams is a pretty poor brand of food; Nutro is okay, I think (not sure).

To make the food a little more appealing, you can try putting a little bit of canned pumpkin or plain yogurt on it.

Iams very poor food, Nutro is so-so, but having issues with dogs getting sick on certain varieties.

Natural Balance

Solid Gold and Natural Balance are both sold at PetCo so should be easy to find. Natural Balance doesn't actually make a puppy food, but has asome great all stage foods with puppy feeding directions.

When our dog was a puppy we used Chicken Soup for the Puppy Lover's Soul. It was the best we could get locally (sort of-we still had to special order it) and she liked it. She likes anything though, so far.

I am using Innova large breed puppy food and raw (not at the same feeding) as I am feeding her 4 meals a day right now.* Once my large bag is gone I will switch to a Nature's Variety Prairie kibble (and raw) until she is about a year and a half and then I will switch her one last time to the Instict formulas (rabbit and turkey/duck meal formulas)

What breed is your dog? If he/she is a large breed, you may wanna try Wolf Cub (solid gold). My dog Lennox (tosa-inu) had been fed Wolf Cub until about a month and a half ago. (We have switched to adult food, Wolf King now)
We have tried Natural Balance before but it gave him real soft stool so we didn’t use it only for short period of time. We also have fed him Nutro and didn’t give him any problem. However, Nutro has corn in it so we stopped using it.

I use the Nutro Herring meal & potatoes formula...my dogs love it (it smells horrid I think)
Nutro isn't the "best of the best" but it works well for my dogs and is a fish based protein (the kind I buy) because we have some sort of allergy in my older dog.
Canidae ALS (all life stages) can be a good one too, and it would be something they could enjoy later on in life instead of switching again.

I fed Gracie Innova Puppy food, she is now on the adult forumla. I sometimes switch to Wellness Super5Mix.

Innova and Wellness are both good brands. JMHO
