Re: Protein percentage question

Eww tripe...I can't stand the smell of it, but I guess it's worth a shot...yuck!

Re: Protein percentage question

Ugh, same. I haven't been able to get my hands on green tripe for ages. Finally I bought a can of this wet food called NuTripe. The smell is almost unbearable. Plus my dogs don't eat all of it at once - I just add a bit of it to their food - so I have to store it in my fridge in the meantime. Argh!

Re: Protein percentage question

Yeah, ewwww! Lol.
Storage might be an issue for me, anything that needs to stay in the fridge and potentially could leak the smell out...yeah, no.

Am I going to have a problem if I do the switch? I trust my vet but they also sell Science Diet so....

Whats the general consensus?
I'm no vet, so this is JMO. I never much look to them for nutrition anyway, as that is not really their study.

That is not too much protein (27%) IMO. I feed raw but when I do or have fed kibble for pups I've fed puppy food and other times only adult food. You can switch her off puppy food now if you like, she isn't really too young but I don't see the protein level being an issue, especially considering her breed. With dry food whether my pups eat pup or adult formula it is between 26-30% that they get. Too much protein is bad on the kidneys, that is for sure. But the 27% shouldn't be too much for a growing active puppy. How is her coat? Dry "burnt" coat can single a protein problem. (as in too much)

That, actually, is a very old myth, debunked a long time ago.
