Quick question!

I had my dog on Royal Canin large breed puppy then I was going to switch him to Orijen 6 fresh fish formula but then realized that being a large breed puppy the protein in Orijen (44%) was a lot and was scared it would cause problems. So now I’m in limbo still mixing half Royal Canin and half Orijen, is this bad for him or maybe a good thing since Royal Canin has 32% protein but is crap food (2 stars compared to Orijen at 6 stars). So should I make up my mind or if it's working keep mixing the two or try another brand all together??

Thanks in advance!

Re: Quick question!

Re: Quick question!

It has a lot to do with how active your dogs are. I was going to switch Ted over to Orijen 6 fresh fish too, but the shipping gets me.

Other foods you can look at are NB, Eagle Pack, Solid Gold, Timberwolf, Innova, Wellness, Taste of the wild. Another fish based food is Wellness Core Ocean. The protein is lower at 34% and still a 6 star food. I've been interested in this food too.

Personally I wouldn't use the Royal canin at all.

Re: Quick question!

Thanks for the replies, he was on canidae when he was a puppy and had problems on it and to this day won’t touch it. But I think I will look for another brand that has lower protein and is for large breeds, he has been itching a lot less on the Orijen fresh fish so I’m thinking he’s allergic to grains. I think I will buy some sample packs of the wellness core ocean, hopefully its not too much more $$. Thanks again for the advice!
