Is it okay to mix 2 good foods?

My dog isn't crazy about Canidae but it is my choice for quality and cost. I really like the cost and we are getting a second dog.

Is it okay to mix another 5 star (dog food analysis) in with the Canidae to reduce the total cost?

Thank you!

I'm interested in what others have to say! Bo used to love his Innova, now he has started eating just a few bites. I have started mixing in a small amount of Wellness wet in with the Innova dry and he gobbles it up like crazy.

I am also interested in rotating foods so Mia won't get tired of the same food. I wouldn't want to eat the same cereal every day! Also, I am lazy and don't want to have to add anything to the dry to get her to eat her food.

I don't think there is any problem with mixing two foods. We do that when we transition our dogs from one to the other. But in my area it would be hard to find something similarly priced with Canidae. ??? maybe Taste of the Wild. I think I saw it at $37 for 30 pounds last week. Solid Gold is in the neighborhood of $55 (33 pounds), Canidae runs $50 (40 pounds) around here.

The only problem I see with mixing two good foods is that, if a possible food-related problem DOES develop, you won't know which one is the culprit.

Re: Is it okay to mix 2 good foods?

Thanks for the info.

Good point, the two I am thinking of mixing are both foods that she has had alone for at least a month. If I always use Canidae as one of the foods and change the other, I'll know if the new food causes a problem.
