Which food has the best results?

Based on your experience or from what you have heard or from the ingredient list what food produces the least amount of stools, the firmest stools, easy on the stomach for a puppy and also smells really bad so that dogs go crazy for it?

I was feeding Vet's Choice and now I switched to Solid Gold for puppies. I have samples of Evo which smells a lot stronger then the latter two. But I heard Evo and Canidae were a little too rich thats why I decided to go with Solid Gold.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Which food has the best results?

It has a lot to do with each dog. I wont be able to tell you what to use because every single dog is different and reacts to foods differently. You're going to have to do a trial and see which works best.

I've tried Solid Gold Hund-N-Flocken, Wee Bits, BATM, Innova Evo red meat, a few others that weren't as good and now NB Sweet potato & fish. His stool is very firm, it's good on his stomach (he has a sensitive stomach) and he's not gotten tired of it.

If you're looking for higher quality foods such as Solid Gold I would also look into Innova (doesn't have to be EVO, but I do like the evo more) Nature's Variety, both Wellness and Wellness Core, Orijen, Natural Balance, Merrick, TimberWold, Taste of the Wild, and Eagle Pack Holistic. Those are foods I have liked the ingredients (but i'm also picky as I've stated in other threads) when it comes to my dogs food.

What kind of dog do you have? Age? and how are you liking the SG? Where are you having problems with him going crazy for his stool?

Welcome to DF btw.

Thanks for the reply. I have a 2.5 month old Westie. I feel that he is pooping a little too often and too much. Also its not as dry as I would like. One morning he pooped 3 times in 30 minutes and it wasn't just a drop either all three times it was a lot. I feed him apples and yogurt every other day. Maybe I'll cut down on the treats.

From the food that I have tested (Vets Choice, Evo Small Bites, and Solid Gold Hudchen Flocken for puppies) I felt that the EVO had the strongest smell and he was more eager to eat it, the Solid Gold was a little bland and didnt smell flavorful. But either way I'll wait for him to finish the Solid Gold before I go buy something. I'm thinking about trying Wellness next. But it should take him a good 4-6 months to finish this 5lb bag haha.

Lol if it takes that long to finish a 5 pound bag.. you're not feeding him enough.

I got a sample of the Wellness Core (regular) and I really liked it. I've just had to order it so I haven't gotten a bag yet.

If you do decide to try out the Wellness let me know how it works out. A westie Huh they're such cuties!

Yeah i have to agree there, if a 5 pound bag is lasting that long. I have a pom and 5 pounds last under 2 weeks. He's not a big pom.
