Question Need to switch from Authority Baked..your thoughts pls?

Hello all,

I am very new at this forum thing but would appreciate any good info. I just brought my new pup home this weekend and was trying to start switching his food. His breeder has him on Eukanuba puppy and from what I have read around its not the greatest, so I decided to try Authority Baked for puppies, but last night I found Indian Meal Moth Larvae in the bag and from what I read on that they are attracted to the grain, wheat is the 3rd ingredient along with others so guess that answered my question why they were there...with that being said..and ewww... I would like to find something else.. I was thinking of Evo small bites.. what do you guys and gals think.. with the switch to Authority his stool is softer and seems to smell more.. so it seems I needed to try something else even before the larvae came along.... your thoughts..thank you!

It's not unusual for dogs to have a bit of gi distress when changing food. So the most common suggestion is to transitions slowly...3/4 old food to 1/4 new food for a week, 1/2-1/2 for a week, 1/4 old to 3/4 new for a week, then just new food after that. Some dogs may need to take it even slower.

As for switching foods, that's a very personal decision. I suggest that you take a look at dogfoodanalysis.com as a starting point.

I figured just the homecoming could be causing the change in stool so I was being even more reserved on how many pieces of the new food I put in.. he is small (3lbs) so right now he is eating about 1/4 cup of food, so I am also trying to make sure he eats enough to keep his blood sugar where it needs to be...i think my sons were easier than the puppy..lol

Thanks for the website...so much info out there with so many contradictions its overwhelming.. thank you again for the info.
