New English Mastiff!!!

Wondering if anyone has any recommendations on a food brand for large breeds such as this. This is my first "Big Dog". I currently have a lab, but realize the nutrition needed in the large dogs is much different. HELP!!

Did you get him/her from a reputable breeder? If so, they can help you with that question, and any others you may have concerning the breed.

First ask the breeder what they fed.

I know Great Danes (another giant breed) should never be fed puppy food. I recommend a high quality adult formula food. Canidae is a wonderful food, usually easy to find, and an all life stages food. www.canidae.com

Some other great foods:
Innova
California Natural
Solid Gold
Timberwolf
Merrick

I would personally stay away from Purnia, Pedigree, Science Diet, Iams, Eukanuba, Kibbles and Bits, Ol Roy, Beneful, Alpo etc

All4theDogs gave you some good advice on food.

Timberwolf Organics would be a great choice. Large breed dogs sometimes have extra sensitive tummies, so you'll definately want to stay away from foods like Purina, Eukenuba, Beneful, Science Diet, etc.

I have 2 large Dobermans and they have been on Purina One with lamb & rice (for sensitive stomachs) for the last several years. Purina One is just the base for their meals. I add cooked egg, a good multi-vitamin, omega 3 oil vitamin (drained from the capusule) with a little bit of canned food. If I have any scraps of meat left from my dinner, I add that to their food also.
Good luck with your pup. I would also recommend that when the pup is full grown, you add glucosamine chrondroitan vitamin to his diet for his joints (especially his hips). Large dogs have alot of hip problems and this has really helped my 110 lb doberman. He is almost 9 years old and runs around like a pup since I started giving him the glucosamine.
