From my own personal experience, your plan to go with a food that has less ingredients is a good one. If Roe has IBD or colitis, less is definitely better. Has your vet talked about IBD or colitis?
Buck has colitis and he does very well on NB Fish and Sweet Potato.
Just a btw, if you plan to switch Roe to something else, Mac should be able to eat it as well so you're not buying 2 different foods.
Don't know if this is helpful or not. |
Yes, helpful. Thanks for the feedback.
My vet hasn't talked with me about IBD or colitis. I think there was too much happening at the time the bout of diarrhea came along to really determine the exact cause. (she was being treated for demodectic too with a amitraz dip)...but the diarrhea came a week after that...so I don't think that was it. I would assume that if it persisted, and I went back to them with a concern, they would look further into those types of coniditions. Really, I don't think it's shown cause for that yet.
I think the food is just too rich and then I gave her a treat she hadn't had before...and that sent her over the edge. But, after seeing the effects of trying to go back to Canidae...I think I'm gonna try the California Natural. However, if I do switch her and she has trouble...I think I'll try to look into further explanations.
and yes, I'll switch Mac too..he seems to be fine. I don't want to have them on different foods.
I guess my question would be, is it typical (or maybe not typical...but does it happen frequently) that it would take 10 or so days for the stomach to suddenly start rejecting the food? They were on Pedigree puppy prior and I did a week transition. I would say their stool was softer after the change...and then boom...watery for Roe
