| Solid Gold Looking for opinions. I have 4 dogs ranging from 3months to 6 yr. The oldest 3 eat solid gold. 2 of them eat Solid Gold holistic. I am not currently supplementing it with any other meat. Everything I'm reading says I should be however, the two that are eating it are in excellent health. No skin problems, no urinary problems, no ear problems...nothing. The 3rd dog gets Solid gold wee bit cause he needs more calories. no problems with him either. I will put the puppy on wee bit too and will find the right amount to keep him in tip top shape. My question is, if things are going well with the holistic ...should i just not worry about supplementing it? |

| Re: Solid Gold Absolutely. Solid Gold is a good food -- you really shouldn't need to supplement it, particularly with meat. The only things I've heard that people add to some of these high-end foods which makes sense to me are fish oil or yogurt, but neither is strictly necessary.

| Re: Solid Gold Solid Gold is a good food. My Rottie/Dobie has enjoyed this for over a year now. I have to mix this with prescription food for his heart condition now, but I keep him on this as there is no salt added, perfect for his condition.
I was giving my Beagle Bark at the Moon, but he gained too much weight on this |

| Re: Solid Gold Yeah, Barking at the Moon should only really be used for performace dogs. Ollie used to be on it before I switched to raw. I felt that I was feeding way too much on Hund-n-Flocken (I would have needed almost 8 cups per day of food on that).
Switching to Barking at the Moon, I was able to reduce that to 6 cups per day when he's working, 4 cups when he's not.
Conversely, the average dog might be eating too little on it that they might not be sastified with the amount they are getting. I can't speak for dogs, but if I was not a performace dog, I'd rather have 4 cups a day of food than 2 cups a day. LOL. |

| Re: Solid Gold I have fed Solid Gold, Hund-N-Flocken, Wee Bits, and Barking at the moon. They were good foods, but I wanted Ted on a no grain food and they are filled with the grains or the protien is way to high.
I'm not a fan of the Holistique Blendz because while fish is the only meat, it's third on the list of ingredients and that's pretty far back for it to be the dogs only sorce of meat. |

They don't process protein as well, so the carbs give them energy for day to day life.
Something like that. |

| Re: Solid Gold Ok, now I am really confused. I just switched my 2 Goldens to Solid Gold - barking at the moon - and do I need to supplement? They are not active dogs. Do I need to add yogurt and why? Do I need to add meat? I am feeding them
2 cups a day. |

2 cups a day. | Not with Barking at the Moon. I was referring to Holistique. There's no need to supplement Barking at the Moon. |
