Oh yeah....I am so with you on that. I avoid high fructose corn syrup at all costs. It's hard though since they seem to squeeze it into all kinds of items that you would never expect to see it in.

Re: Corn---you decide

I pulled a few things out of my pantry:

Honey Nut Cheerios has modified corn startch as the third ingredient
Brown Sugar Cinnamon Poptarts: corn syrup and high fructose corn syrup
MMMM-Act II light butter microwave popcorn definitely seems healthier--just popping corn

Oh boy Bite Size frosted Mini Wheats has high fructose corn syrup

Planters Dry Rorsted Peanuts has Corn Syrup Solids
Goyas Rice and Red Beans has corn starch
Stove Top Stuffing has high fructose corn syrup
Cheese nips have cornstarch
Graham Crackers have high fructose corn syrup

I need to stop now, unbelievable--( I think I need to get a life...)

Re: Corn---you decide

I've been avoiding high-fructose corn syrup for over a year now. It stinks how many foods have it as an ingredient. I mean, even "healthy" foods! I know that PopTarts aren't good for me, so I expect them to have questionable ingredients....but yogurt? Whole-wheat bread? Bah. So my food choices have been seriously limited. But I am eating heathier now. It's always good to be educated.

I do eat whole-grain organic corn meal (polenta, grits, whatever you want to call it). Apparently it's pretty good for you. Instant grits, not so much. Besides, instant grits taste terrible! The first thing you find out when you eat healthier foods is how bad processed food really tastes.......
