Raw Ground Turkey

My local supermarket carries ground turkey..Can I give this Raw to my dog with some pureed carrots and green beans as a meal...

I currently use Barf World patties and Honest Kitchen Embark...
I'm new to this raw thing, but if I can give a few meals a week with the ground turkey that would really be nice, but only if it is safe,,,
Thanks

PS.... The Barf World patties have 11.7 mg/kg of Iodine based on a dry matter basis....is this too much Iodine ?

Re: Raw Ground Turkey

You can, but those meals are going to be deficient in calcium since the ground turkey from the supermarket doesn't contain ground bone like pre-made raw patties do. You would need to balance the phosphorus in the meat with a calcium source.

Agree with above post. Also, there are no organs and maybe not enough fat since turkey tends to be very lean.

Re: Raw Ground Turkey

I would try some on them before buying a ton of it. I thought it would be a nice addition when I am serving a particularly bony piece for a meal. However my dogs, who generally eat anything, turned their noses up at ground turkey.

And as mentioned above, there will be no bone in the ground turkey. You may find that if you give it to your dogs as a meal they get a bit of runny stools.
