| Does anyone feed their dog Wellness? I recently switched Baxter from Science Diet to Wellness because I liked that it did not have so many fillers and it is made in the US. I switched him very slowly and his stomach was fine but not he has had a lot of horrible smelling gas. Has anyone else experienced this? Should I switch his food? |

| Re: Does anyone feed their dog Wellness? As far as I know, Wellness is a very good brand of dog food. I had Tiffera on it before and she loved it and did good on it. In fact, when I had tried switching her from Authority (I know, crappy food, my parents got it when I told them to get Nutro) Tiffera picked through her bowl and ate all the Wellness, leaving the other Authority dog food. I think on http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/ Wellness is at least a 5-6 star dog food (though I'm not sure, I can't seem to load the page.) But it also depends on what you're feeding, Puppy or adult, Core or some other kind of Wellness (I only fed Core, so that's the only kind I can remember. ) |

| Re: Does anyone feed their dog Wellness? The only reason your pup is having this problem is because its just getting used to the food. For example, if you went from eatting taco bell, mcdonalds, etc everyday to some really nice expensive steak and seafood place everyday you'd have gas too at first! Science Diet is a very low quality food, you made a great choice with Wellness! |

| Re: Does anyone feed their dog Wellness? Tanner has some digestive/allergy problems we've been sorting out. She had been slowly switched to Wellness fish/sweet potato formula, and did not do well on it. She had sloppy stool and terrible gas.
She's currently on probiotics to aid her digestion, and is being switched from Evo red meat to Wellness duck/rice. She's about 50/50 Evo/Wellness right now, and knock on wood, she's had good stool and NO gas. I figure in another week or so she'll be entirely on the Wellness, and I hope she'll be okay. |

| Re: Does anyone feed their dog Wellness? i just switched my puppy food to wellness and arisu is having runny and soft poop. she also needs to go out more often to go potty, last night i took her out three times and im very upset because it seemed she was in pain (she was whining almost all night except for 30 minutes after she went out and pottied). she also threw up a few times last night (yesterday was the 2nd day i put her on wellness, 25% wellness, 75% puppy food).
throughout today she had 2 more runny pottie times and 1 very soft stool butmore in shape than the other times, and no throw up. if she does more tonight i will take her to the vet first thing in the morning. i wonder how long did it take for your dogs to get used to wellness though? i cant bear to think my baby would have to go through this for too long =( |

Should I switch his food? | While some dogs seem to have an iron gut and can take food switches in stride, others for whatever reason will get gas and lots of it. Sometimes their gut just gets a bit out of whack and needs some probiotics to help it out for a month or so when moving to a new food.
From what you have described I probably wouldn't run to switch foods yet. I seems he's doing well except for the gas, so I would just try some probiotics and see if it helps. |
