| Re: Blue puppy food I feed Blue Buffalo to all of my animals and have never had trouble with it. My Shepherd eats blue buffalo lamb/rice mixed with the blue buffalo wilderness. I put the wilderness in there as more of a treat because I know she really likes it. She's 6 months old and will be on the puppy food until about 12 months most likely. I don't give 100% puppy food because my vet did say sometimes large breed dogs grow too fast when on puppy food. He suggested mixing it or finding an all life stage dog food, so that's what i've done. My adult does just fine on the blue buffalo wilderness. Still with the adult i mix it with the regular blue buffalo salmon meal adult food (sometimes I buy the lamb or chicken and switch it up a bit). I don't know if the dogs care or not but i'd get tired of eating the same thing over and over again.
Anyhow, to answer your question I think feeding the puppy food would be fine. I think more of the problem lies with the giant breeds (Newfoundlands, Leonbergers, Saints, Great Danes, German Shepherds - some can be larger than "norm", etc...) Collies are an average size dog from what I remember (50-60lbs) so i think you'll be okay.
There is better food out there for the money. I feed it because I work at petsmart and get pretty good deals on it. If I didn't work at petsmart I'd probably buy Solid Gold from petco.
I just know that I stay away from Iams, Euk, Science Diet and anything found in a typical grocery store. Now and then i'll buy canned dog food by science diet but only maybe 5 times a year (lol) it's a real treat when they get anything canned.
I've rambled long enough. All in all blue buffalo is a decent brand of dog food. It's better than the other stuf they sell at petsmart. Nutro Ultra is another decent one as well (from what i've heard) but never tried it myself. My dogs love the taste of blue buffalo and it works well for em'
