Hey everyone this is my first time posting here. Hopefully I will get some good results.

I am getting a Siberian Husky puppy in 2 weeks. He will be 8 weeks old when I bring him home. He is red and white and money is of no concern for me when it comes to getting him what he should have. Obviously I would prefer a good response from a fellow husky owner but if anyone thinks they have good info please feel free to let me know.

What are the best chew toys and bones and treats to get for him? What are best for training? What is the best food to get him? What is the best kind of brush to use on him? Basically what is the best everything that is available for him? I know there really isn't a "best" for everything, but what do you recommend.

I was looking at blue buffalo: wilderness for food but can't find a place to buy it. I am now thinking about Solid Gold Bison for when hes a puppy and then maybe one of the timber wolf products for when hes a little older because I think there is a store not to far from me that carries it.

Anyway just give me your advice. Its all good.

For food, I recommend Solid Gold Barking at the Moon when older. Solid Gold was phenomenal in regards to how much it improved Ollie's body and coat.

I also recomend the very costly Furminator for the blowing coat sessions. I also use a slicker brush for the quick combs as that feels better on his skin.

As for training, I have no good advice to give. Do know that he will likely be stubborn and not very eager to please you. He likely won't get attached and be a lap dog either, Ollie usually prefers his distance.

I give Ollie a lot of freedom to do as he pleases, some people disagree with that perhaps but as long as he's not loose, jumping on people, or biting, I'm a-ok with it.

I use the large Furminator, but maybe you'd want the smaller one while they are still young. As for slicker brush, almost any should work. Petco doesn't have the one I use online.

Winter and Summer, I believe. To be more accurate, they "blow coat" twice a year, but they do shed a little bit the rest of the time (nothing a quick brush every week or two can't take care of).

I've only gone through one coat blow with Ollie so far, so I don't know the exacts.

I had a good friend back in Colorado that has 5 huskys, I don't have personal experiance with them in means of owning, but I use to go with her to let them run, and they would run and run and run and run. They are fun dogs, make sure you post some pictures of your baby when you get her.

Not all slicker brushes are created equal. The ones made by Chris Chrisenson are the best I have ever used. I can really tell a difference between the generic ones from the pet stores than these professional ones.

I would go with the medium flat one for your breed.

If I remember correctly, Solid Gold has 1.5% calcium, which is quite high for feeding a larger breed puppy. I'm not a food expert, but from the reading I've done on how calcium affects puppy growth, it may be a good idea to look for something a bit lower in calcium content until his growth plates close (about 1 year or a bit later). The highest quality food I've found without excessive calcium content is Canidae all life stages (1.2%). The only potential issue with Canidae ALS is that it has quite a range of protein sources which could cause allergies, but that will make itself apparent if it is an issue.

There are others on this board that can speak to the calcium issue better than I can, but I'm keeping Rocky on ALS til he's fully grown, then switching to raw or a higher grade kibble.

I have a 5 month old Siberian Husky/GSD mix. It's been eating Canidae and wolfing it down for the most part. Recently its been having some trouble eating, but I think it could just be that it's losing teeth and eating may be slightly uncomfortable. Canidae is overall a very high quality food and was recommended by the breeder.

I second the FURminator. I have the large and it works unbelievably well.
