Well, it's hard to believe, but my puppy is coming up on a whole year old... she is still on a "puppy" food (kibble) and I'm just wondering at what point/age I should be looking to switch her to an adult formula.

Oh, she's a purebred Chihuahua and has essentially reached her predicted full size already... if that makes any difference.

Small dogs can actually switch to adult food when they're around 9 months old, so you can definitely switch her food now if you want to. Just be sure to do it slowly, gradually mixing her new food in with the old food over a period of time. And I have heard that the really small dogs are pickypicky, so you might have a little trouble from her.

Good question. My pup will be 10 months in a week-English Springer. She has gone through a growth spurt and I weighted her at 33.6 lbs. She is aiming for the low 40's. She has a quarter of a bag of Solid gold puppy left and I plan on switching her to a grainless-Wellness Core or Timberwolf. Is there any point in waiting and buying another SG or start making the switch now??
CoverTune- I think you should start your switch because her weight is adult.
Are you going to change the manufacturer of her food or stick with the same brand. If you are staying in the same brand and just going to adult kibble, the transition should be smooth.

Mine have been on Canidae "All Life Stages" since they came home with us.They never had any puppy food per say. I have tried a couple of other brands a little at a time and some were too rich(Evo). They liked Orijen 6 fish and did good on that too.David

Yup my dogs were also on an all stages dog food, they never got puppy food. Your dog should be able to switch any time, make sure to switch gradually.
