Nature's Variety Instinct

I have read here the threads regarding Timberwolf Organics plus I have read the new, revamped dogfoodanalysis.com and I am concerned that the TO Lamb and Apples could have "rice" as their first ingredient although it is still rated a five-star food.

I am now switching to Nature's Variety Instict Rabbit meal formula--so far so good---any input, feedback I would appeciate. My only concern is that the protein level of the Instinct Rabbit meal is much higher than the TO--my dog is going to be two and is rather atheletic and predominantly on raw food--if he does well on the rabbit meal (so far, no problem) I will try the duck meal and alternate them--again, input feedback is appreciated

What is it that concerns you about the protein level?

Personally, I wouldn't be concerned about the NV instinct. It seems to be a very good food and the protein is mainly derived from highly digestable sources.

Re: Nature's Variety Instinct

Thanks so much Cascabel--I am very pleased with the food---my 16 year old cat even had some of the rabbit kibble (can't hurt as a little treat once in a while). I was basically concerned because I have read threads on this forum about protein levels and kidney function so I just wanted to get some input--you helped greatly!

Nature's Variety has my thumbs up. Although I've never fed it exclusively to my dogs, I feed it to my cat with awesome results.
