| Dog Food Recall I recently (12/24/07) purchased 4 packets of Nutro Natural Choice Adult Dog Food from a local "pet mega store" in Georgia, 2 packets of Chicken and Brown Rice Entree and 2 packets of Savory Lamb Stew for my 7 year old Dalmation (Jackson). Much to my surprise, I noticed that these packets had been re-bar coded (new bar code stickers) from 79105 32806 to 79105 35314 (Chicken and Brown Rice Entree) and from 79105 32802 to 79105 35310 (Savory Lamb Stew). I immediately remembered the recent Pet Food Recall for MENU FOODS in March '07. After some investigation, I found that these products were part of that recall (79105 32806 & 79105 32802) and apparantly are now back on the shelf for your dog's consumption.
I contacted the store and was advised that this food was safe. However, I doubted that a company would risk their reputation by re-bar coding food that had been recalled. I could find no notification from MENU FOODS that this food was now safe (on their web page) so I contacted their company via e-mail. The company has not responded after 2 business days. The "pet mega store" (Corporate) did respond and stated that they were not aware of MENU FOODS re-bar coding any products.
I would suggest that you be very careful if you are in the market for this product or any MENU FOODS product, and would appreciate your notifing any of your friends of this apparent danger.
