| Comments on Canidae All Life Stages Dry please I had a post below in which I was looking for comments on Canidae All Life Stages Lamb and Rice, and only got one comment; Maybe because it's new, and not too many of you have tried it yet.
So now I'm looking for comments on Canidae All Life Stages dry dog food; Basically want to see how you all feel about it's quality, etc
Had my 5 year old Lab on Pro Plan for a few years, and just switched him to Science Diet, but am not seeing too many good comments on either of those two.
He has environmental allergies, and sensitive skin, so I figure the switch to Canidae Lamb & Rice better may be a good option for him. I don't think he has food allergies, but want to put him on something that is good for someone with sensitive skin.
Has anyone who used Canide noticed an improvement in skin and coat condition?
Our Boomer is basically a house Lab, so just want to make sure Canidae wouldn't have too much protein for our "lazy boy".
So all +/- comments will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,....marc |

| Re: Comments on Canidae All Life Stages Dry please I would definitely recommend Canidae over the Science Diet you have your dog on now. I think it is a very good food for the money. It is one of the foods I use in my rotation. If your dog is prone to allergies your dog might benefit from rotating foods. Every bag switch rotate between 3 or 4 foods of equal quality. My dogs have healthy shiny coats and no skin problems so I guess it does alright for that too. |

| Re: Comments on Canidae All Life Stages Dry please I have 3 dogs on Canidae(All life stages) and they have all been doing good on it. They have never had any digestion problems with it. Two are puppies and one is 4 years old. They all like it, taste wise, size wise. They are all small dogs. I have also used some of their can dog and cat food, I don't find anything so far to dislike and the price is in the middle, as for as dog foods go. I will continue to use it. I have e-mailed them with questions before and they always reply. I also use Evo,Merrick,Orijen too. David

| Re: Comments on Canidae All Life Stages Dry please My lab is doing great on Canidae all life stages. It is not cheap but better priced than some of the other better foods. He looks better, smells better, acts better, and even seems to breath better on this food. |

| Re: Comments on Canidae All Life Stages Dry please I used to love Canidae lamb, but about two or three months ago the new bag must have been contaminated or all of a sudden the food my dog had been eating for about a year did not agree with him. For three or four days he was so ill about the same time I opened the new bad of canidae. I know it was the food because I eliminated everything else. The pet store gave me the hardest time about returning the food and told me they had, had no toher complaints about the shipment of canidae they had. But it was the food because it was the only thing he was consuming and as soon as I stopped feeding it to him he was fine. But really every dog is different and they dont all do well with the same food. |

They should be refunding stuff easily and not be giving you a hard time about it. Who cares that you were the only one complaining, they should know every dog is different.
I feed my cat the Canidae for cats (Felidae). I love and she loves it. I have tried many different foods and she looks best on this as well. |

| Re: Comments on Canidae All Life Stages Dry please My comments are completely unscientific, but since switching to ALS:
-coats appear shinnier
-less itching
-the dogs freaking love the food. From the time I open up the tub to the time I put the food down, there is a monsterous pile of drool on the floor On their other kibble, this would only happen when I'd mix in food roll or canned.
-Nice firm stools
-no real change in energy one way or the other. |

| Re: Comments on Canidae All Life Stages Dry please We did not have positive results with Canidae, we fed it for about 4 months. Had problems with soft runny poops and gas. But each dog is different, I think this food was a bit rich for my pups.
A great alergy food though is Natural Balance Sweet Potatoe and Venison, IMHO. My friends dog had the worst skin/digestive problems and she switched her dog to this food and the turn around was amazing, nice shiny coat, my more itchy red spots! |

| Re: Comments on Canidae All Life Stages Dry please I have two (well three dogs now). I originally switched Mac'n'Roe to Canidae when I was educated to the fact that grocery store food wasn't good for them. Mac has done GREAT on Canidae and LOVES it!!! His coat was noticeably better within a week. Roe had trouble with it..soft stools. I switched her to California Natural...still a little soft so I added pumpkin to her diet and that helped things too.
California Natural is a great food for dogs with sensitive stomachs or allergies. It has a very small ingredient list..only the essentials. Its a little more than Canidae, but not much.
In summary, I would highly recommend Canidae. |
