Riley's Thanksgiving feast

Had a huge argument with DH about giving the turkey neck to Riley. Everyone at his work had said it would kill him. I ended up showing DH the responses I got from this forum. So I set up Riley's crate on a chair in the corner of the dining room and gave it to him when we sat down to eat. When we finished the neck was gone and Riley was sitting there with what I swear was a smile on his face! Riley thanks you all.

Re: Riley's Thanksgiving feast

According to my husband the vet Riley is one lucky dog. He could have very well have choked on one of the bones or experienced a tear along his digestive tract from one. I know he loved it but it is our responsibility to keep our pets safe as we do our children and we can't always let them have what they want sometimes we have to say no to keep them safe.

From all of my research that's only true of cooked bones which can splinter. BARF which was developed by a vet by the name of Billinghurst recommends raw bones. As far as choking, I'm more worried about him choking on the plastic from his Kong and other hard plastic toys. Of course your husband, the vet, probably sells Science Diet too.
