When do you change to....

adult food for a 10 mo. yorkie and a 5.5 mo. pommie? just read on another forum that it should be switched when the puppy is neutered. i've always heard that it was at 12 mo. i'm concerned because i don't want my yorkie to get over-weight because of possible future joint problems, and my pommie seems to be on the pudgie side. it would be great if i could switch the pommie to adult food because he is showing signs of allergies by nibbling on his legs and paws. (he is a white pommie.) i found some holistic food that doesn't have corn, wheat, or eggs in it but it only comes in the adult version. (we live in a small community.) the pet supply owner said that i could go ahead and feed the holistic food to my pommie as long as supplimented with unseasoned beef or chicken because he didn't feel that there was enough protein in the dog food. any thoughts would be appreciated.

If you feed Canidae All Life Stages, you won't have to worry about it....and it's a high-quality food. (good for dogs with food allergies because it contains no corn)
