Free dog food samples?

Ok after reading the thread about the best dog food I now realize I have been feeding the wrong food all these years to my dogs I had been feeding Purina, Pedigree, and Iams which I thought were good foods.
What is everyones opinion on Benefil?
Also is there anyway to get free samples because Chicalen can be picky about what he eats. Or should I just buy a bag of the brands I want to try? I know he will not eat Wellness Lamb and Rice I have tryed it.

I've found myself likeing more brands like Wellness Core, Solid Gold etc. Brands you can't just pick up at any petco or petsmart.

So I'm really not a fan of benefil. Look for the first 5 ingredients. You don't want anything with corn or byproducts. You want a natural food with all good ingredients.

Re: Free dog food samples?

There are better foods out there for the money. Remember with a quality food that doesn't contain fillers you will be feeding less so a bag will last longer.

Look for stores in your area that carry Canidae, Innova, Chicken Soup, Eagle Pack, Timberwolf... These stores will be carrying most of the quality brands. To find a store in your area do an internet search for the food name and the manufacturer's site usually has a store locator function.

Go in, you can usually take your dog too, and talk them about your dogs and your budget. They usually have free sample bags that have about 1 cup of food in each one. Most stores are happy to give you samples of a few foods so that you can try before you buy. It won't be very worthwhile to change to a quality food if your dog doesn't like YOUR first choice!

I know of quite a few stores that will take the food back if the dog won't eat it. Don't know about Petsmart, but usually your local grain stores and independent stores will take it back. You just need to ask when you purchase it. They want to keep you as a customer so they are usually pretty obliging.

What has always worked for me is get a variety of sample bags of the foods you want to try. I use them as treats to see which ones the dogs like and which ones they turn their nose up at. Then I buy a bag and they think they're getting a bowl of treats for breakfast and dinner.

I've taken back opened packages because my dog din't like it. They were happy to exchange to another brand for me.

The store I go to has alot of sample packs of different foods to try.
