| Milkbones I was just on another dog website and someone posted that they bought a box of Milkbones for their dog. A poster responded and said that she doesn't feed them because she doesn't like the ingredients. I've been giving Cooper Milkbones since we brought him home. He doesn't get them that often and he does love them. They are the one treat that he really likes. I've tried the other "healthier" treats, but he can be very fussy when he wants to be and he doesn't usually like them. He does like the Canidae Snap Biscuits. But he still loves to have a Milkbone.
Does anyone else give their dogs Milkbones? |

| Re: Milkbones Plenty of people give their dogs milkbones without doing any harm. Just because one (or even more than one) person says they don't like something doesn't mean you should follow suit.
You wrote that your dog is fussy and that he likes the milkbones...that right there should be enough. |

| Re: Milkbones Milkbones aren't the best dog treat you could give him... but it's a treat, so he shouldn't get them all the time.
I feed LeRoy milkbones once in awhile. But most of the time, it's carrots. |

| Re: Milkbones My mom dont buy milkbone because they are expensive she gets on sale purina treats but we do buy milkbone toys.
Anyway, Don't we eat junk food? As a matter of fact im eating a crunch bar and I shouldn't because its bad for me, aka not healthy. But it tastes good. Life without junk food would suck. So I just ate this and i am fine after eating it. Why would milkbones and other dog treats that aint no health treat, hurt your dog every once in a while? I understand not all the time but once in a while if fine. They porbily get sick of the same dog food day in and out and need a treat now and then |

| Re: Milkbones Starry 15- I think the main problem with milkbones isn't lack of nutrition, yes people eat junk food too, but the fact that they are loaded with animal byproducts (google it, you'll puke). We don't buy Roxy any treats that aren't 100% byproduct free, which means we pay more, but our dog has no risk of poisoning and gets better nutrition. Our vet loves that we do this. |

| Re: Milkbones but like she said, theyre a treat. they shouldnt be fed on a regular basis. and as we all know, our vets dont know much about nutrition anyway. as far as milkbones go, my pup likes them, but she doesnt get them a lot, my mother bought them for her for at her house as a treat. at our house she has some beggin strips that she has once in a while, and some organic treat that i use for training because its small and soft and she can eat it fast. |

| Re: Milkbones The treats I give my dog are probably a lot better than the treats I eat myself.
I give marrow bone Milkbones and mini Beggin Strips. One mini Beggin Strip is usually broke up into about 4-6 treats. He's really fussy about treats, and it's hard to find a balance between "won't eat" and "gets weirdly possessive of." |

| Re: Milkbones If the by products in the milkbones bother you try the natural balance sweet potato and fish treats. My dogs love them. They are also good for dogs with allergies. |

| Re: Milkbones I never buy Milkbones but I don't pitch too much of a fit when my friend brings over the random Milkbone for treats for my dogs. They do seem to like them. I figure a few a year won't hurt anything. |

| Re: Milkbones Being a health freak myself I don't give my dogs treats like that really. If I do want to give her a treat I use tuna, steak or chicken. |
