Kirkland's new dog food...

I was buying some items at costco and noticed a new dog food: Kirkland Signature Organic Chicken and Rice.

I looked at the ingredients, no corn, no wheat, preserved with vitamin E (tocophernols?), no ethoxyquin, a good fiber percent, eggs, oats, peas, barely, whole rice and no fillers. It is not the kibble made by Dimond and it is Organically certified.

Does anyone have anymore information pertaining to this new food? It seems to be higher quality and not the cheap food they used to sell or even the recalled food.

This food costs $18.95 for 25lbs, I do not buy it, but I was just curious to see if they have made improvements from the stuff they used to have. And, for those in financial binds who cannot afford the top notch food may consider this a better choice than Iams, Science Diet or other crap food.

I found the previous versions ingredients, or part of them to make comparisons:

Re: Kirkland's new dog food...

It appears to me that if you add up the fat and protein, the new organic version has about 9% more carbs than the older version. I also like to see a fat content of at least >14%, similar to the old formula.

I'm not wild about the amount of grains, I don't think "organic" and the new content is enough to pay double the cost of the older version.

I guess my bottom line is that I don't think the new version is an improvement.
