Re: new wet food

Personally, I dont trust wet dog food after that outbreak. It wasnt like it was selected brands it was like all the brands who made wet dog food. So maybe you should find one in dry. If your dog prefurs wet you can put water and gravy on top. We do that to stars food and loves it!

Well like I said, you could heat up gravy and put it on top of his food. My mom does that with stars all the time. He loves it.

I don't see any problem feeding can food. It just needs to be a premium quality food. Most people are coming to realize that can food is in many ways healthier. The main benifit for dry is that the food cleans the dogs teeth. But can food is easier the dog to digest. Dogs have to drink a lot of water in order to saturate dry food enough to digest. Can food does not pose this problem

All can food was not recalled. It was just the bad quality food made with out of the country ingredients. You might want to look into where the food is manufactured and where the company gets their ingredients.

Re: new wet food

Actually the idea that dry dog food cleans the teeth is a myth. (A very common one which I myself believed for a long time!) In actuality kibble does nothing to clean the teeth.....it just doesn't tend to cling to the teeth like wet food and therefore tartar buildup is slower than with wet food. This is why tooth-brushing (ideally with an enzymatic toothpaste) is important even for dogs that eat solely kibble. It's a small dinstinction and please don't take this as nit-picking. I just mention it because many people (I used to be one of these people) think that if you feed dry kibble then tooth-brushing is unnecessary which isn't the case.

I agree that the canned food that was recalled was bad quality food and that if you want to feed a canned food there are some good choices out there. I personally don't feed my dog canned food, but I have heard great things about Merrick wet food.

Re: new wet food

merrick canned food makes me want to taste it. It has mostly meat in it. Much more than people canned stew. I top my dogs kibble with it
