Have you heard of Show Coat dog food?

My vet sells show coat dog food. She tells that the food is pretty much the same thing as proplan, but I have never looked on the back of the bag. I feed proplan, but I am now in the middle of trying to switch foods. I looked at the website and the food looks a lot better than proplan, but the site doesn't give an exact ingredient list. I was just wondering if anyone has used or heard of this food. They are based out of Texas.

Here's the website:

I have not heard of this food but just as a rule I would not switch until you can get a look at the ingredients list. Next time you stop by your vet's take a look at the back of the bag - that way you can be sure that it is a better food.

Re: Have you heard of Show Coat dog food?

I looked on the website and here are the ingredients for the Lamb & Rice formula:

INGREDIENTS LAMB MEAL, GROUND RICE,OATMEAL CHICKEN MEAL, CHICKEN FAT (PRESERVED WITH MIXED TOCOPHEROLS AND ASCORBIC ACID), and all VITAMINS & MINERALS FOR ALL LIFE STAGES OF A DOG'S LIFE.

In my opinion the basic ingredients are fine, but it's missing A LOT of things that make a dog food really healthy, instead of just giving them the bare minimum. Honestly if you compare the first few ingredients of EP Holistic Lamb & Rice, they look very similar to this food, but then EP has some fruits/veggies, prebiotics, probiotics, yucca, glucosamine, etc.

There are a lot of foods that I would feed before Showcoats. Here's the short list:

Canidae
Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul
Timberwolf Organics
Innova
Blue Buffalo
Wellness
