Chicken soup questions.

I currently feed chicken soup and while it is a great dog food, one of my dogs has started itching and the other one losing some fur. I have had the thyroid tested on the one losing fur and she is fine (she does have a low thyroid issue, but that is kept in check with meds). The other one is itching constantly, no fleas, or anything else.

here is what they get in their food:
chicken soup, garlic powder, prozyme, and some wet food from Sam's (maybe this is the culprit??).

I just read the list on the back of the can for the wet, and I think that may be the culprit...maybe?

Any suggestions? comments? tips? Thoughts?

Re: Chicken soup questions.

I feed chicken soup and have no probs. Stop feeding the Sams food for awhile and see if they stop.

Re: Chicken soup questions.

While I love the ingredients in Chicken Soup, I have heard so many people having problems on it. Including loose stools, itchy dogs, loosing weight. I dont know if its a mix of certain ingredients or what it is. The food looks so good on paper, but not something I would feed just because of all the bad stories I have heard.

Re: Chicken soup questions.

My family and I eat lots of things we buy at Sam's Club, but I would not feed anything from Sam's to my dog.

I feed chicken soup and have never had any problems with it. If you've been feeding it for a while now, I'd blame the sams, or some other disease or parasite of the sorts.

Lightbulb Re: Chicken soup questions.

Okay, I will pull them iff the sam's club crap. I don't why I didn't think of it before, but when I listed it on here, I realized that thsat was probably the issue.

I go to Sam's to get pedigree for the kennels (I counsel people whenever the say they feed pedigree and tell them the truth about it). I have to choose a food that most people are on for the kennels, and Pedigree (unfortunatley) fits the bill.

Anyhoo, thanks for the information.

I will keep you up to date.

How long do you think it will take the dogs to detox from this?
