I don't claim to be an expert on dog food, but if you read the MANY threads in this section on dog food yuo will see MANY questions similar to yours, but qith a different brand. So first, the ingredients:
Ingredients: Chicken, brewers rice, brown rice, oatmeal, brewers rice flour, chicken fat, wheat gluten, chicken meal, natural chicken flavour, dried beet pulp (sugar removed),soya oil, salmon oil, salt, dried brewers yeast, dried egg powder, sodium silico aluminate, potassium chloride, calcium sulfate, L-tyrosine, fructo-oligosaccharides, DL-methionine,L-lysine, sodium tripolyphosphate, choline chloride, calcium carbonate, magnesium oxide, Vitamins [dl-alpha tocopherol acetate (source of vitamin E), -ascorbyl-2-polyphosphate (source of vitamin C*), biotin, d-calcium pantothenate, niacin supplement, pyridoxinehydrochloride (vitamin B6), vitamin A acetate, vitamin D3 supplement, thiamine mononitrate
(vitamin B1), vitamin B12 supplement, riboflavin supplement (vitamin B2), folic acid],Trace Minerals [zinc proteinate, zinc oxide, ferrous sulfate, copper proteinate, coppersulfate, manganese proteinate, manganous oxide, sodium selenite, calcium iodate], taurine*,L-carnitine, tea (green tea extract), preserved with natural mixed tocopherols, rosemary
extract and citric acid.
*Not recognized as an essential nutrient by the AAFCO Dog Food Nutrient Profile.

Out of the first 5 ingredients 1 is chicken, 3 are rice. I am not impressed by this, this site offers helpful insight into good dog foods Note that the Royal canine scores a 2 star rating our of 6.
There are alot better foods out there, Orijen, Solid Gold, candidae, chicken soup for the pet lovers soul.
Read up on the topics in this section and you will get all the answers to your questions. I did and the information was invaluable and very educational.

If you are saying that you bought 1.5 kg for $19 that is a ridiculously high price, I suspect that you mean 15kg, and that is pretty reasonable.

Re: Is Royal Canin a good dogfood ?Who feed their dogs with this brand ?

So the main ingredient is rice (not good) and there is dehydrated poultry meat, this incredibly vague description can only mean poor quality meat with little to no nutritional value and that is the only meat ingredient!! take a look at a quality food such as Orijens, ingredients:
Deboned chicken, chicken meal, turkey meal, russet potato, lake whitefish, chicken fat, sweet potato, whole eggs, turkey, salmon meal, salmon and anchovy oils, salmon, natural chicken flavour, sunflower oil, sun-cured alfalfa, dried brown kelp, carrots, spinach, peas, tomatoes, apples, psyllium, dulse, glucosamine Hcl, cranberries, black currants, rosemary extract, chondroitin sulfate, sea salt.

There are 6 meat ingredients and NO GRAIN

A 10 lbs bag of Royal Canin goes for 22.99USD
I recommend looking for a better quality food. Again this site http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_reviews/index.php has a weath of great information on good foods.

MartinCarson, thanks for posting that link. I'm about ready to switch the that GO Natural. Unfortunately the closest place to get it is 14 miles away. That and I wish I knew how much it costs.

Good chance that you won't find it, it is a Canadian brand, http://www.k9cuisine.com sells it but i doubt the shipping to japan would be cheap. Again look at http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_f...iews/index.php for a good food that is available to you in Japan. Generally recommended on this forum are Solid Gold, Candidae, Timberwolf, Innova, Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover's Soul.

Wow, it looks like the ingredients are much worse than Royal Canin here in the United States. And even here I only consider it to be a mid grade food. Orijen isn't available in Japan. It's a Canadian food and it's only available there, some states in the U.S., France, Germany and England so far.

Here's the store locator for them. You never know when they'll be expanding to other countries.

http://www.acana.cz/orijen/storeLocator/

I'm actually not sure what foods are available in Japan, so I don't know what to recommend for you.
