Food Recipes

Hi Yall...

I am wanting to start my pup on fresh cooked or raw food for her main courses. I would like to see if I could get any recipes from anyone? Any additional supplements I should give her along with it. I am also wanting to do this for my other dog ( 5 years old) and also for my cat. Thanks!

Re: Food Recipes

You need to be feeding 2-3% of body weight daily, split into two meals. Most of us with raw started out buying a few chickens and quartering them for the first few week's worth of meals.

I have two dogs, both about 10-12 pounds and a cat on raw, starting in March. The change has been incredible. I do some grinding for the cat (old cat, having a more difficult transition about working for her food, tearing at it and such) and one dog with dental problems. But otherwise they just get raw meat and bones. I throw in some veggie mush once per week because they (dogs) have some constipation every once in a while, so it keeps them regular. I also give them some fish oil 3 times/week for the omega oils that grain fed meat is lacking.

Cats need some supplementation if they are not eating all the organ meats. They have some essential amino acids that are critical in their diet. So I keep the cat food separate from the dog food.

If you would like more specific info please PM me and we can go from there.

Re: Food Recipes

This is a bit freaky for some raw feeders, but basically how things go around here.

Here are some other wonderful recipes that are more along the lines of BARF not prey model.
Many links to raw feeders and a bit on what they are feeding

My 'franken animal' mixture usually consists of Chicken backs and thighs, ground hamburg or chicken breast, whole makeral, some carrots or sweet potatoes if veggies are added at all, liver and apple cider vinegar.
Thats not the daily meal, but one of the regular ones.
