| What to feed? I have a 1,5 year old Rotti. She doesn't like dry food and can handle canned food for only couple of days,I think I've tried everything and the best is if I make her a chicken soup or some other kinds of soups but she will eat only once a day if food is given twice she becomes very picky. She was not living with us for almost a year (she was with my mother in law) They used to feed her with fried food. Since the dog is with me now, I cant allow my doggy to eat fried stuff. So may be thats the problem but it's almost 6 months since I'm trying to feed her right She is 60 lbs. Please, if anybody knows what's the best for my doggy I will be really thankfull.
Thanks |

| Re: What to feed? If you haven't done so already, take the dog to the vet for a complete exam. And take along a fresh stool sample so they can check for parasites. Let us know what the vet says. |

I second that....get her to a vet ASAP.
Ugh...I hate when I hear things like "they gave her fried food". What the hell are people thinking. If it's not good for you, then why on earth would you think it's okay for your dog? |

| Re: What to feed? If the dog checks out healthy at the vet, it may be time for some tough love.
You get a quality kibble. Put down a measured amount for 15-20 minutes. Whatever isn't eaten is taken away.
Do this twice-a-day at regular times. The dog may go several days without eating a thing but, if she is otherwise healthy, she will not starve herself.
It is absolutely essential that you have her checked out by the vet and discuss this plan before proceeding. |

| Re: What to feed? Oh my word.....fried food
It is a good thing you are now her mommy. Please take everyone's advise and take her to the vet then you can concentrate on getting her on the right track. Rotties are awesome, I have one and he eats twice a day, when I put the food down, he acts like I haven't fed him in days- they generally have good appetites. |

| Re: What to feed? Some dogs if allowed will become picky eaters. I remember one time I was fostering a shepherd I had the hardest time of getting him to eat what I was feeding. His first owners feed him moist and meaty burger made by Purina. What I did was started slowly adding and taking way until there was no more Purina food.
I would take the dog to the vet to make sure no health problems. |

| Re: What to feed? We have visited a local vet about a month ago and she is fine. He adviced to add a little of warm water into her dry food but it's not working. Also, she likes cat food, we have cats so she tried their food once, she loved it. Vet said that it's ok to feed her with catfood but could gain some waight. I tried cat food than in a few days she didn't want that eather. |

| Re: What to feed? Don't feed cat food to a dog. Cats have very specific and different nutritional needs than dogs.
If the vet has checked her out and said she's healthy ten I say pick a food that you are comfortable with and play tough love. Follow RonE's suggestions above. |
