Is my dog growing up?

My daughter is home from college and my son is off from school, Riley has taken to staying up later with them and sleeping later in the AM. Yesterday and today my DH and I have been waking Riley up (literally waking him up, he wants to hang with the kids) to go potty and eat. He is eating but much slower than he used to and not as much. I know as a dog gets older their food requirements are less than when they are pups as their activity levels/metabolism decreases. As I do a raw diet, should I decrease the amount of food I give because he is eating a few ounces left and I feel I have to throw it out after it sits? What percentage do you give your adult dogs? Riley is about 55 pounds, he was getting about a pound 2 ounces of raw food a day plus 1/2 can of tripe and about 1/2 cup of organic kibble. Do you think I should reduce it a little?--He has a moderate activity level lately (my goodness do I have another teenager in the house?????)

Re: Is my dog growing up?

Well if it was one of my dogs I would cut back on what they were not eating. Then again is one of your kids feeding him anything at night? And if not, then I would cut back and keep an eye on his weight. If he starts losing weight then I would add back what I cut out.

Re: Is my dog growing up?

I think I am going to cut back and see what happens. From what I have heard standard poodles would not "overeat", they just eat what they need. He probably had about 6 ounces this morning, and some kibble and a little tripe. I will give him about 8 ounces tonightt and see how he does. I went to that interactive guide on the nature's variety website and he should be eating anywhere from 9 ounces to 15 ounces a day (including about 1/2 cup of kibble)--I also give him tripe so I will keep an eye and see. He is actually 53.2 pounds I just weighed him.
