Grooming advice

im doing an assignment on the different grooming techniques for each differnet coat type and i was wondering if anyone could tell me the correct groom for each of these breeds of dog!

Double- St Bernard
Wire- West Highland Terrier- (i think this is grooming with carrot tail and a cresantheium head)
Non Shedding- Minature Poodle
Smooth-Basset Hound
Silky- Cocker Spaniel
Any help will be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Re: Grooming advice

well i dont no if this is what u mean but i will do my best

Double- St Bernard
well i usally use a slicker brush and then a good comb out with a metal toothed comb and a dematting rake if there is a lot of dead coat and hasnt been groomed i no ppl who show these and other breeds like the newfys which groom every day for 30mins and then spend a good maybe upto 2 hours at the weekend gromming out, but as a pet u could get away with grooming once or twice a week if u do a good job, these have minimal trimming they are basicly natral just feet ears and a tidy of stray hairs

whw and wire coats these should be hand srtipped but most pet owners cant be arsed which is y i personaly belive they have such bad skin poblems as a breed in genral, right for show they should be hand stripped to leave th coat hard and wiry which helps o protect the dog from the weather when out working the dog dog should have a fair amont of feathering which is trimmed to suit the body the tail is trimmed in to a carot and the head is trimmed round with a well defined neck and sholerds
most ppl who have these breeds as pets have them shaved which strips out the natral oils in the coat leading to dry skin or they have them trimmed up to give the impression of being handstripped. hand strippng should be done every week to keep h work to a minimal but some ppl do leave i till the coat blows which is very easy to see on the the breeds ike the borders and they look like little busted sofa cusions lol all the air sticks up and is then ready to be stripped but it takes about 8weeks is from groom to groom depending on the dog and seasons but if done weekely it is less work on u and the dog and they look smarter

non shedding wolly cats need to be trimmed regulay about every 6 weeks depending on the cut these breeds are usally non alergenic as well which is always good the grooming is simple on the podle breeds either a slicker brush or a pin brush thn followed by a metal toothed comb and with the breeds like the lhasas then a metal toothed brush then using a metal wide toothed comb these breeds can have many trimes from all shaved off to natral to the floor and the poodles have so many clips its realy ownser prefrance

smoth coated well take about easy peezy i like a hound glove or a rubber tothed brush made by kong also grate ont he thicker breeds like the labs

cockers they should be stripped when young to help get rid of the pupy coat and then once the adult coat comes them all that need to be done is cat feet and feathering and ears as the coat shold then lay flat but some ppl who wont strip shave them as they cant wait for the coat to come out then this makes the coat wooly and hey look a mess between trimms some dogs sont have a flat laying coat so clippering is the only options and also id a dog is done then this can also make the coat go wooly and be neeed to be shaved but it all depends on the breeding

i dont no if this is what u wanted sorry if it isnt its 1239 am and im about to go to bed lol
