Help with drying my new puppy - didn't like dryer

I gave my "new" 8 week old Bernese Mt. Dog puppy his first bath (away from the breeder). He did ok with the bath, but when it came to dry him off, he did not like the hair dryer. He was fine with all the towels and rubbing etc. but he really needed to be a bit dryer.

Any suggestions?

its all just dwo to getting a dog used to it really best to start young its just a matter of getting the pup used to it like every thing else so when uv had a bath have the puppy in the room while u use the dryer get him used to the noise ad let him no it wont hurt him then sit with him pretending to dry him but pointing it away then moving it on to him in small amount always save the head til last as most dogs dont like his try and pop ur finger over his ear so it dosnt blow down his ear

When I first got Riley I started putting his crate in the bathroom when I got ready in the morning. Still do. His crate is on a piano dolly so it's easy to move around. So he got used to the sound of the hair dryer. I have one of those hand maids, a contraption that holds the hair dryer so you can dry hands free. When I dry him I lower the dryer, put the heat on the lowest setting and I maneuver Riley under the dryer. He actually seems to really like getting dried now.

If the dryer has a cool setting you might try that. But most pups are afraid of things like blow dryers at first. And honestly, a berner has such a thick coat and stays pretty warm, that you are blow drying only for your convenience. The pup really doesn't need it.

Thanks for the advice. He is great with all other sounds so far, but we will ease into the dryer. I'll have him watch my wife dry her hair in the morning.

We gave him a bath in the evening, so I didn't want him to go to bed "damp". Otherwise if it's a nice sunny day and we bath him, I'm not to worried about it. Although, he already loves to roll in the dirt, so I still (maybe for our convenience) want him pretty dry.
