Bathing our puppy

So, we are going to bathe our puppy tomorrow, because the groomer won't take her until she has her rabies shot. She is an akita lab mix, but has short hair, not the long akita hair. Do I need to worry about blow drying her, or can I just towel dry her?

It depends on how fast you want her dry. I sometimes just towel dry my bulldog.

I just towel dry our puppy. Her hair is so short that it dries very quickly. Then I just snuggle with her to warm her up some.

I seldom if ever bathe a dog. Get a soft bristled brush and brush her every day. She will be fresh, clean, and have healthy skin and coat.

I use sham wow towels. They're super absorbent. I can get a short haired dog completely dry with one. I just keep going over and over them with it, and wringing it out.

Re: Bathing our puppy

You might want to try the hair dryer out, just for reference and to get the dog used to it.

I find that while my dog dances around trying to avoid getting towel dried, he lies down calmly while I blow dry him. What I like about the dryer is that it is quicker, it gets to the underfur and reduces the lingering "wet dog" smell, no wet/hairy towels, and after a run in the cold rain, it warms him up a little.

Be careful to keep it on warm, not hot, and move it around (I keep my hand under it, while ruffling the fur) to keep from burning their skin. Like drying a small child's hair.

I would blow dry her a bit. just so she gets used to it. as they will blow dry her at a groomers, you should get her used to it now, rather then later
