Cool can groomin wth clippers make min schnauzer coat lighter over time?

Hi y'all-
I gotta ? 4 groomers out there... I have a min schnauzer (1st time 2 ever own this breed so I just dunno).. He is 12 wks old and has nt ever been groomed! When I got my dog he was black (midnight) and gold, now he has 3 colors in coat black gold and GRAY? So now his beard area is GRAYISH and his back is black/gold but if u look close 2 his skin area he is grayish?!? So here is my ?... I have heard that if u groom him wth clippers over time lightens coat? Is that true???

If you have him clipped, rather than hand stripped, then yes, he will lighten. The reason being that when you clip a harsh coated dog that is supposed to be stripped, the harsh hairs don't grow back, because they haven't been pulled out..they've been cut off..So eventually, you have only undercoat left, which is lighter in color. He will most likely lighten some even without being clipped, because he's still a pup, and its not uncommon for schn. to be born darker in color, and lighten as they grow older.
