Re: opening up a groom shop

am i?! I grew up in leslie lucas groom shop. Ive worked all over and even groomed at home when mom got me clippers for my birthday when i was 10 years old. Since then Ive been working with professional handlers and groomers of poodles, bichons, terriers (can strip well)
Im fairly good at scissoring. before i open the shop, im getting glasses!!!!
but yes i can groom and i always run into old clients and they ask where in the hell i am.
the last place i worked went out of business because i left. none of the customers would return unless i was there.
Im not trying to be cocky but just saying ive been grooming since i was 10 years old and im 25 now....so that makes 15 years
The only thing ive never groomed is a belgeton terrier and kerry blue terrier.
Im sure i could do them just fine as long as i do my research and contact a breeder before touching the dog. Thats what i usually do when i get a breed that ive never done before: contact breeders online and the national breed site for grooming tips.
my downfall is l eaving too much hair on the dog.... thats the only complaint i get usually. but u know show dogs... lol
but do u have any tips?

I think you mean Bedlington Terrier It's pretty well held in the dog community that they are THE hardest breed to groom x.x

Bedlington hair is EXTREMELY fine and very very "touchy". It's not hard to "ruin" a dog.

Re: opening up a groom shop

thank you!
i couldnt for the life of me remember the name of the site.
my computer was stolen last y ear and i have not had access to the internet for quite a while. I finally got a nice laptop and it came with a free printer.
Im going to check out amazon.com for books as well.
Good thing i saved Groom&Board accounting sheets from my accounting class. I thought that was pretty ironic that the class chose to use dog grooming and boarding as an example.

THANK YOU!!!

(yes im a true blonde)

omg i love you LOL the books! i love em! i ordered them.
