A few grooming questions

I have a Chihuahua who is a year old. Here are my questions.

My vet said to bath him once every couple of weeks, but about a week after a bath he smells again like he needs another bath. The vet said dogs just smell sometimes. (By the way, I am thinking of switching vets too). Is it ok to bath him weekly? A few friends of mine that have dogs bath their dogs about every week or every ten days.

Fleas!! Oh how I am sure every pet owner hates these little creatures but I cant seem to get rid of them. I have a very clean house, I treat the furniture, beds, and carpet for fleas and the dog, but two or three days he has them again. I put this expensive powder stuff on my furniture and carpets and bare beds. Then I vaccuumed it off. Following the directions 100%. I washed Rocky in flea shampoo and put Frontline on him. Everything was good for about three days then he started scratching again. Sure enough the fleas were back. So I flea bombed the entire house and sprayed the stuff all over the yard, bathed Rocky again and got the Ok from the vet to reapply Frontline. It took about a week this time but the fleas were back again.

I just dont know what else to do.

Re: A few grooming questions

Try "Comfortis" I have not heard of one case yet where it hasn't been effective. Starts killing fleas in 30 mins and then works for 30 days (does not work for ticks though) I have heard numerous complaints about Frontline (myself included)

As far as the bathing, once a week is okay if you are using a very mild, soap-free shampoo, and be sure to rinse very thouroughly.

Re: A few grooming questions

Try Buddy wash and Buddy Rinse by Cloudstar for weekly bathing. It's soap and chemical free and very gentle on the coat. It also smells wonderful, and the smell lasts a long time on the fur. If you have something else that you would like to use, you can make it easier on the coat by diluting it with water. I dilute my Eqyss shampoos 8 to 1 with water (8 being water).

Here is the Buddy Wash shampoo, I like the Lavender Mint scent. http://www.amazon.com/Buddy-Wash-Sha.../dp/B0002YFQ6W
