what do you do with the hair?

I gave Ruby a bath today and noticed the water wasn't draining after, and realised the hair would have plugged it up. Which I should have thought of beforehand. Our bath has a screw in plug which pops in/out to let water drain or not (if that makes sense) and I ended up having to take it apart to pull the hair out of the regular plughole.

Do you use something special to catch the hair so it doesn't block the bath? I remember my grandma having something which looked a bit like a mini-tea strainer in her bath, although she didn't have dogs.

I'm pretty sure you can pick up those shower strainers at most places that sell home goods, such as Target or Home Depot. That would probably be your best bet. I work in a grooming salon and we have similar things covering the drains on our floors.

you can buy one of those drain strainers at any dollar store, but if you have one of those pops in and out drains I don't know what you could use. maybe you could unscrew it and use the drain strainer when you wash the dog and put it back in when your done.

Yep, I think I will keep an eye out for one of those strainer things, and next time I will unscrew the plug and use that instead. Thanks

I have that same problem but its my hair that clogs the drain not my dogs. We have the same type of stopper so I just took it off and use the stainer (which I bought at Walgreens where I work) and then I just us the stopper when I need it which is kinda rare for me.

Re: what do you do with the hair?

In my old house, we bathed Maddie in the tub and it got clogged a lot. Draino and home made remedies did not fix it. We found this product and it worked very well. It's called Hair Away. Simple to use-pour in a cup, sit overnight, pour a cup of hot water to rinse.
The hair and the dirt really messed the tub up before Hair Away...and cleaning the curtain and tub was hard, too....and while Hair Away works, the weather is so nice out we've been bathing Maddie in her pool. Oh, she hates it even more because she knows there's more space so she tries escaping more. In the shower, she couldnt go anywhere, so she wouldnt try.
